Luigi Russolo was one of the "Futurists" who began experimenting with how we experience sound in the modern world. Dissatisfied with the traditional means of musical experience, he sought to expand and update every aspect of the sonic experience from the types of sound, the instruments, the venues, etc. He made a point of including "everyday" sounds including industrial and city sounds, and creating soundscapes.
